On the evening of December 24, 1992, **George Atkinson Sr.**, a 47‑year‑old Black male, was fatally shot in the head at his home in Prince Edward County, Virginia. His wife and their jointly owned property were also victims of arson, as the residence was intentionally set ablaze immediately following the shooting.
