On January 16, 1981, 17-year-old white female Mary Opitz vanished from the parking lot of Edison Mall in Fort Myers, Florida. She had gone shopping with her mother and brother that evening, and after expressing fatigue, she told them she would wait at their car—a burgundy 1979 Chevrolet Camaro.
