On May 23, 1988, 37-year-old white female Mary Elaine Buchanan Shereika of Gambrills, Maryland, went missing during her early morning jog. A dedicated runner, she had left her home around 5:20 a.m. for her usual five-mile route before heading to work. When she failed to arrive at her job, her fiancé reported her missing.
