Lauren Phillips, a 34-year-old white female from Euless, Texas, was one of three victims brutally murdered by Jason Alan Thornburg in September 2021. Thornburg, then 41 years old, had been staying at the Mid City Inn in Euless, where he lured Phillips and two others—42-year-old David Lueras and 33-year-old Maricruz Mathis—into his motel room over the course of a week.
According to investigators, Thornburg claimed he was compelled to commit “sacrifices” based on his interpretation of religious texts. He strangled Lauren Phillips to death on or around September 21, 2021, and later sexually assaulted her corpse.
Thornburg dismembered Phillips’ body in the motel bathtub and stored her remains in trash bags under the bed. He repeated this process with the other victims. On September 22, 2021, he transported the remains in plastic storage bins to a dumpster on Bonnie Drive in Fort Worth and set them on fire. Firefighters responding to the blaze discovered the dismembered bodies, prompting a homicide investigation. Phillips was identified as one of the victims shortly afterward.
