On January 21, 1958, 46-year-old white female Dorothy Waterstreet was found brutally beaten to death in Amsterdam, New York. She had been walking home from church when she was intercepted and attacked just a block and a half from her destination. The assault was described as particularly violent, and her body was discovered in a vacant lot. Dorothy was the wife of a local undertaker, and her murder shocked the small community.
