Emilita Villa, a 26-year-old Filipino female, was last seen alive on October 11, 1994, in Arlington, Texas. Born in Cebu, Philippines, Emilita had moved to the United States after marrying Jack Reeves, a retired U.S. Army master sergeant, whom she met through a mail-order bride service. The couple had a son together and lived in Arlington. On the day of her disappearance, Emilita had lunch with friends at a local restaurant, where she confided that she was planning to divorce her husband due to
his controlling behavior and sexual demands. She was never seen alive again.
Following her disappearance, Jack Reeves claimed that Emilita had likely run off with a female lover and showed little concern for her whereabouts. He even offered a $25,000 reward for her return. However, suspicions quickly mounted due to Jack Reeves' history. Investigators discovered that he had been married multiple times before, and two of his previous wives had died under suspicious circumstances. His second wife, Sharon Vaughn, had died from a gunshot wound in 1978, initially ruled a suicide. His third wife, Myong Hui Chong, drowned in Lake Whitney in 1986 under questionable conditions, and no autopsy was performed before her cremation.
Nearly a year after Emilita's disappearance, her skeletal remains were discovered in a shallow grave near Lake Whitney, Texas—the same lake where Reeves' third wife had drowned. Jack Reeves was arrested and charged with the murders of both Sharon Vaughn and Emilita Villa. In 1996, he was convicted of murdering 26-year-old Filipino female Emilita Villa and received a 99-year prison sentence.
