Marie Elizabeth Ridulph, a 7-year-old Caucasian girl, was abducted on December 3, 1957, from her hometown of Sycamore, Illinois. She was last seen playing outside with her best friend, Kathy Sigman, when a man who introduced himself as 'Johnny' approached them. The man engaged the girls in conversation, offered Marie a piggyback ride, and asked to see their toys. Kathy briefly left to retrieve her mittens, and when she returned, Marie and the stranger were gone.
