Joycie Flowers, a 41-year-old African American woman, was found deceased on May 24, 1990, in a homeless camp located in Kansas City, Missouri. A mother of four, she was also known in her community as a Sunday school teacher and choir director. Her body was discovered naked, with the exception of one sock, and showed evidence of rat bites.
