Joseph Thomas Cleveland, a 28-year-old white male, was murdered on December 17, 1977, in DeKalb County, Georgia. His body was discovered days later in the Flint River, wrapped in a sleeping bag and weighed down with cinder blocks. Cleveland was a firefighter and had been associated with Carl Millard Patton Jr., a man later identified as a serial killer responsible for multiple murders in Georgia between 1973 and 1977.
