On the afternoon of January 13, 2025, 18-year-old African American male Demetrious Braud of Beaumont, Texas, was fatally shot inside a residence located at 410 Hydrangea Avenue in Orange, Texas. Officers from the City of Orange Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 3:44 p.m., where they discovered Braud deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Judge Hershel Stagner Jr. arrived at the scene and ordered an autopsy to be conducted.
