In the late evening of November 23, 2015, the life of 39-year-old African-American man Dwayne Autry Taylor, known to some as "Chill," was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of an apartment complex situated north of the downtown area, near an elementary school.
Reports indicate that a physical altercation preceded the fatal shooting. An argument between Taylor and another man escalated into a fight in the parking lot.
In the midst of the struggle, a gunshot rang out, and Taylor was struck in the chest. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving Taylor gravely wounded. Despite the efforts of those who arrived to help, his death was later ruled a homicide, with the cause identified as a gunshot wound to the chest.
In the initial stages of the investigation, police sought a person of interest who went by the nickname “Seven.” The search for the person responsible for Dwayne Taylor's death extended beyond Nevada. Approximately one month later, on December 23, 2015, authorities located and arrested 30-year-old Damien Ford in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ford was taken into custody on a murder warrant related to the shooting. He was held in Indiana pending his extradition to Las Vegas to face charges for the slaying of Dwayne Autry Taylor.
