In a tragic event that unfolded in Ladson, South Carolina, 38-year-old Adrienne 'Kim' Seay, a female, became a victim of a triple homicide. The devastating incident, which also claimed the lives of her father, 68-year-old John F. Childs, and her brother, 36-year-old John A. Childs, occurred on December 27, 2024, at the Abberly Crossing apartment complex.
At the time, they were reportedly assembling Christmas toys for Adrienne's young son.
The suspect in this harrowing case was identified as Adrienne's 44-year-old estranged husband, Darius Seay. According to reports, the couple was in the process of a divorce. The situation escalated when Darius Seay allegedly forced his way into the apartment. Initial reports indicate that he stabbed and shot his wife. Witnesses at the apartment complex reported hearing a commotion and loud banging noises coming from within the residence.
Following the attack, Darius Seay was seen leaving the apartment with his and Adrienne's five-year-old son. A witness encountered him in the breezeway, where Seay, while carrying the child, pistol-whipped the individual before proceeding to his vehicle. After placing the child in his SUV, he was observed putting on a bulletproof vest and a helmet and retrieving a rifle from his vehicle.
Law enforcement was able to track Darius Seay to a residence approximately eight miles away. As officers approached the home and began to examine his vehicle, he emerged from the house with the child. He released the boy to the police before taking his own life. It was later revealed that just days before the triple homicide, Darius Seay had been arrested on an assault charge and was released on a personal recognizance bond. The family has expressed their devastation over the senseless loss of their loved ones.
