An 18-year-old African-American man, Aaron Jordan, was killed in a shooting on April 22, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident occurred at the Eagle Trace Apartments located at 5370 E. Craig Road in the northeast part of the city. Originally from San Diego, Jordan was visiting Las Vegas at the time of his death.
According to the Clark County Coroner's office, Jordan died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators reported that at least two individuals fired a minimum of ten rounds into the apartment where he was staying, striking him. The shots were reportedly fired from two different sides of the apartment, suggesting a targeted attack on the residence.
Family members described Jordan as a "gentle, loving and caring young man." His godmother stated that he was "not a gang member, just at the wrong place at the wrong time." In the aftermath of his death, his family organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the costs of transporting his body back to San Diego for burial.
Despite the initial investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, there have been no public reports of any arrests made in connection with the murder of Aaron Jordan. Information regarding any potential suspects or the motive behind the shooting has not been released. The case remains an unsolved homicide.
