In the late hours of a warm evening in downtown Las Vegas on July 23, 2016, a Hispanic man named Felipe George, age 41, was walking along the sidewalk. The night was shattered by the sound of gunfire as a light-colored, four-door sedan approached him in the 1600 block of Palm Street just before 11 p.m. Someone inside the vehicle fired several shots at George, striking him multiple times before the car sped away down Olive Street.
First responders found George on the sidewalk with
multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to University Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. Investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department determined that he was the victim of a drive-by shooting.
In the days following the shooting, the Clark County coroner's office formally identified the victim as Felipe George. Authorities appealed to the public for any information regarding the shooting, the light-colored sedan, or those inside the vehicle. Despite the public call for assistance, online sources and news reports have not provided any updates regarding arrests in the case or the identification of any suspects. The investigation into the death of Felipe George remains without a publicly reported resolution.
