In the early morning hours of April 20, 2016, a fatal encounter unfolded at a motel in downtown Las Vegas that claimed the life of 37-year-old Pedro Munoz Rodriguez. A Hispanic man, Rodriguez was at the Safari Motel located on Fremont Street when a dispute erupted.
The argument was with a man who had arrived at the motel in a white four-door sedan with dark-tinted windows.
The verbal altercation escalated dramatically when the driver returned to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm, and opened fire, striking Rodriguez. After the shooting, the gunman fled the scene in his car, last seen heading east on Fremont Street.
Law enforcement and medical personnel responded to the scene, and Rodriguez was transported to University Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
At the time, police described the suspect as a tall and slender Hispanic or Filipino male in his 20s, who was wearing a black hat, a white T-shirt, and a black-hooded sweatshirt. The investigation into the death of Pedro Rodriguez was initiated, with authorities seeking information from the public to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the deadly shooting.
