On the evening of December 14, 2024, 42-year-old Matthew Bernard was found shot to death inside a Swissvale, Pennsylvania, apartment. Police responded to the residence on the 7530 block of Dickson Street at approximately 10:10 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Bernard, a male, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
The discovery was made by a relative of the apartment's resident.
The resident had been contacted about a potential home invasion and had asked the family member to check on the apartment. Inside, the family member found Matthew Bernard's body and alerted the authorities. Investigators later confirmed that Bernard was known to visit the apartment.
The Allegheny County Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide. As of January 2026, the case remains unsolved, with no arrests having been made and no suspects publicly identified.
