Tahirou Diallo, a 60-year-old male rideshare driver from North Richland Hills, Texas, was tragically killed on May 7, 2025. Diallo, who was originally from Guinea in West Africa, was known as a pillar of his community and a devoted family man. His death has left his loved ones and the broader community in mourning.
On the night of the incident, Diallo was providing a ride to 30-year-old Kane Roden. Surveillance footage captured Diallo driving Roden down the 8000 block of Mickey Street just before midnight. Witnesses reported that Roden exited the passenger side of the vehicle, walked around to the driver’s side, and fatally shot Diallo. Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after midnight and found Diallo deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Roden, described as highly intoxicated, was discovered near the vehicle with a firearm beside him.
Police arrested Roden at the scene and charged him with murder. Records indicate that Roden had a history of violent offenses, including charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and terroristic threats against a family household. At the time of the shooting, he had two outstanding charges related to violence against a family member and violating a protective order. Roden is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
Diallo’s family and community members have expressed their grief and outrage over the senseless killing. His relatives described him as a caring and respected figure who always looked out for others. His wife and three-year-old son are now left to cope with the devastating loss. The family has called for justice and urged rideshare companies to implement stricter safety measures, including background checks on passengers.
Uber released a statement expressing condolences to Diallo’s family and confirming their cooperation with law enforcement in the investigation. A prayer service was held in his honor, and a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help return his body to Guinea for burial. His loved ones continue to seek answers and accountability for his untimely death.
