On the evening of April 12, 2025, the life of 18-year-old African American male Camryn Addarryll Young was tragically cut short in a shooting near Great Falls, South Carolina. Known affectionately as “Puff” to his friends and family, Young was a beloved figure in his community. The incident that claimed his life was part of two separate but related shootings that occurred within minutes of each other in Chester County, one on McClinton Road and the other on Ridgeway Road.
Young was fatally wounded in the Ridgeway Road shooting. Two other individuals were also injured in the violent events of that evening and were subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
The investigation into the shootings was swift, with the Chester County Sheriff's Office taking the lead. Their work, in conjunction with assistance from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, quickly pointed to a single suspect. Within hours of the shootings, 18-year-old Ronrico Lamont McCullough Jr. was apprehended in the Charlotte area. Following his arrest, McCullough was extradited back to South Carolina to face a litany of serious charges related to the violent outburst that left one dead and two wounded.
As the legal process began to unfold, the full scope of the accusations against McCullough became clear. He was charged with murder for the death of Camryn Young, two counts of attempted murder for the injuries sustained by the other victims, and a host of other felonies. These included possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, first-degree burglary, and armed robbery. While the community mourned the senseless loss of a young life, McCullough was booked into the Chester County jail to await a bond hearing as the investigation by local and state law enforcement agencies continued.
