In the early morning hours of April 13, 2025, the life of 24-year-old Brandon Alvarado-Gaspar was tragically cut short in his Walhalla, South Carolina home. Emergency services responded to a call around 5:30 a.m. concerning a shooting at a residence on Snead Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Alvarado-Gaspar deceased inside, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
The Oconee County Coroner later ruled his death a homicide.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a possible suspect. By approximately 6:05 a.m., law enforcement had located 23-year-old Caleb Aguirre at a family member's home on Thompson Road. Aguirre, also a resident of Walhalla, was taken into custody without incident. An arrest warrant was issued, and he was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Aguirre was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center, where he was held without bond.
Authorities have described the shooting as an isolated incident and have assured the public that there is no ongoing danger. While the investigation is continuing, a motive for the shooting has not been publicly released. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed to officially determine the cause of death. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
