Ty’Quean Sharpe, a 27-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on March 15, 2025, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The fatal incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. at a convenience store located at 1616 E. Raleigh Boulevard. Sharpe was one of two victims killed in the shooting, alongside 35-year-old Jotavian Wilkins. A third individual, identified as 29-year-old Keymon Ervin, sustained injuries but was treated at a hospital and later released.
Authorities swiftly launched
an investigation into the deadly shooting, leading to the identification of a suspect. Rocky Mount detectives named 22-year-old Tylik Rashad Mabry as the individual responsible for the killings of Sharpe and Wilkins. Mabry, a convicted felon, was found hiding in a motel in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and was subsequently arrested. His apprehension was initially linked to an outstanding warrant for violating his parole conditions from the previous month.
Following his arrest, Mabry faced multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond for the parole violation, with warrants related to the homicide pending service.
Sharpe’s passing has left his loved ones devastated. His family has arranged services to honor his memory, including a visitation on March 26, 2025, and a public viewing followed by a Celebration of Life on March 27, 2025, at Light of Peace Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. The community continues to mourn the loss of Sharpe and Wilkins, as authorities work to ensure justice is served.
