Jake Michael Pozzi, a 36-year-old man from Middlesex, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on February 15, 2025. Authorities responded to a report of an attempted home invasion at a residence on NC Highway 222 West, near Stancil’s Chapel. Upon arrival, they discovered Jake Michael Pozzi deceased at the scene. Initially, claims were made that Pozzi had been attempting to break into the home, but after further investigation, law enforcement determined that these allegations were
unsubstantiated.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office identified Bryan Keith Narron, a 32-year-old resident of Middlesex, as the suspect in the case. Narron was arrested on March 17, 2025, and charged with felony murder. Investigators revealed that Pozzi and Narron were acquaintances and that Pozzi had been inside Narron’s home for a period of time before being fatally shot through the front door. Authorities have stated that Narron’s claim of an attempted home invasion did not align with the evidence recovered at the scene.
Pozzi, originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, was known for his vibrant personality, quick wit, and adventurous spirit. He had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly fishing, and was skilled in mechanics and creative arts. His passing has left a profound impact on his family and friends. He is survived by his three daughters, ages 14, 12, and 10, as well as other close relatives. A graveside inurnment was scheduled to take place at Middlesex Cemetery on February 22, 2025.
Narron remains in custody at the Johnston County Detention Center without bail as legal proceedings continue. The case has drawn attention due to the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the conflicting narratives presented. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to ensure justice is served.
