In the early morning hours of April 16, 2025, at approximately 4:50 AM, District Four officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Summit Road in the Roselawn neighborhood of Cincinnati following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gary Holmes, a 60-year-old Black male, suffering from a gunshot wound at the location.
The Cincinnati Fire Department quickly responded to the scene and immediately began life-saving measures.
However, despite their efforts, they were unable to revive Mr. Holmes, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital. The incident occurred near New Bedford Drive in what appears to be a residential area.
As of the initial investigation, the Cincinnati Police Department has not released any information regarding potential suspects or what circumstances may have led to the shooting. No arrests have been reported in connection with the death of Mr. Holmes, and the case appears to remain under active investigation by local authorities.
