On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 6:30 PM, a tragic incident unfolded at the intersection of Gate No. 2 Road and the Interstate 85 Northbound off-ramp in Butner, North Carolina. What initially began as a road rage incident on I-85 culminated in the death of 63-year-old Broderick Hines of Durham. Butner Public Safety Officers responded to what was first reported as a single-car crash, but while en route, they were informed that a shooting had occurred at the scene.
