On August 6, 2011, Lashawna Candies, a 25-year-old woman from Antioch, California, was fatally shot in a firefight in East Oakland. The incident took place near the 8700 block of B Street in Oakland during the early hours of Saturday morning. Candies was struck by gunfire during a chaotic exchange, which also led to the injury of another woman.
