On May 4, 2017, 47-year-old Richard Bojorquez was shot and killed near Owens Avenue and Pecos Road in Las Vegas. Bojorquez was found injured next to a wash, a known location for homeless encampments. Despite efforts by first responders, he died at the scene. The Clark County Coroner's Office later ruled his death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
