On the evening of May 4, 2017, Richard Bojorquez, a 47-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on a bike path located in a wash near the intersection of Owens Avenue and Pecos Road in the east valley. When officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Bojorquez with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, witnesses reported hearing an argument between two men just before four or five gunshots rang out. Bojorquez was found with a bicycle, and it was noted by witnesses that he had been seen in the area in the days leading up to the shooting. Investigators indicated that while Bojorquez may have been experiencing homelessness, the man he was arguing with did not appear to be.
The suspect was described as a man with slicked-back black hair, wearing a striped polo shirt and blue jeans. He was last seen fleeing the area, heading west toward Pecos Road on a BMX-style bicycle. At the time of the initial reports, the shooter had not been apprehended.
The Clark County Coroner's office later officially identified the victim as Richard Allen Bojorquez. Despite the initial investigation and the description of the suspect, no arrests have been made in the case. The murder of Richard Bojorquez remains an unsolved cold case with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the suspect is still listed as unknown.
