In the early hours of March 30, 2025, a gathering in the Crouch Mesa area near Aztec, New Mexico, turned fatal for 20-year-old Samuell Tariq Liggins, an African American male. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting at approximately 2 a.m. and, upon arriving at the residence on County Road 3149, they discovered Liggins deceased. The party was attended by a number of juveniles and young adults.
