John D. Allen, a 39-year-old man, was fatally shot near the Nevada-California state line north of Reno on January 22, 2025. Following the shooting, Allen fled the scene and managed to reach Doyle, California, where he became unresponsive. First responders arrived, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso, and the manner of death was classified as homicide.
