In the fall of 2017, the life of Craig M. O'Driscoll, a 52-year-old White male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. On October 7th, a heated argument erupted within his family's home on Casper Peak Court. The dispute escalated, leading to a violent altercation with his sister, Cheryl O'Driscoll.
During the course of the struggle, Cheryl O'Driscoll retrieved a handgun and shot her brother.
Craig was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. For five days, he fought for his life, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on October 12, 2017. An elevator mechanic by trade and a resident of Las Vegas since 1998, he was remembered by friends and family for his sense of humor and generous nature.
The investigation into the shooting was handled by the Metropolitan Police Department's homicide unit. Initially, no arrest was made, and the case was submitted to the district attorney's office for review. In the weeks that followed, law enforcement continued their investigation, and on November 14, 2017, Cheryl O'Driscoll, then 43, was arrested in connection with her brother's death. She was charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon and booked into the county jail. According to police records, she claimed to have acted in self-defense, stating that her brother had been violent with her in the past when he had been drinking.
