On March 12, 2025, Chad Daniel Wooten, a 31-year-old white male from Excelsior Springs, Missouri, was found deceased alongside his cousin, 33-year-old Dare Michael David Kinney, in a residence on Woods Avenue. Responding to a welfare check requested by a concerned family member, police forced entry into the locked home and discovered both men dead from apparent unnatural causes.
