On a Saturday evening in Jersey City, the life of Gerard Brooker Sr., a 52-year-old male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On May 10, 2025, police were called to a residence on Wade Street around 8:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Inside one of the units, they discovered the unresponsive body of Brooker Sr., who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m.
The initial investigation into the shooting quickly pointed towards a person of interest who was tragically close to the victim. Authorities identified Gerard Brooker Jr., the 25-year-old son of the deceased, in connection with the fatal shooting. The investigation moved swiftly, and in the early hours of the following morning, on Sunday, May 11, the younger Brooker was located and apprehended in Manhattan by the New York City Police Department.
Following his arrest, Gerard Brooker Jr. was charged with the murder of his father.
