In the quiet city of Somersworth, New Hampshire, the evening of December 30, 2024, was shattered by an act of violence that left one man dead and a community searching for answers. Jeffrey Stephen Prouty, a 36-year-old White male, was fatally shot outside an apartment building at 97 High Street. The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:22 p.m., stemmed from a verbal argument that escalated with tragic consequences.
Responding to a 911 call, police and emergency services arrived to
find Prouty suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Inside the same building, officers discovered a second individual, a 31-year-old male, with non-gunshot-related injuries.
