On the evening of March 15, 2025, the life of 25-year-old Katy Jaramillo, a White/Caucasian female, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. What began as a child visitation at a residence on North Bruce Street ended in a devastating murder-suicide. Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the home following reports of a shooting.
As they neared the address, another gunshot rang out from within the house.
Upon entering the home, police discovered Jaramillo and a man, later identified as 27-year-old Juan Reyes-Mora, both with gunshot wounds. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined that Reyes-Mora shot Jaramillo after an argument before taking his own life. The two had been in a long-term relationship that had recently ended. Jaramillo was at the residence for a planned visit with her children.
Katy was the mother of three young boys, ages 4, 6, and 8, who were present at the time of the incident but were not physically harmed. Described by her loved ones as a devoted mother, she had aspirations of becoming a registered nurse. Friends and family remembered her for her kindness, intelligence, and humor. The investigation into the incident has been concluded, with authorities confirming Reyes-Mora as the sole suspect in the murder-suicide. No further arrests have been made in connection with the case.
