On the morning of Friday, April 18, 2025, authorities in Springfield, Missouri, responded to a wellness check at the residence of 21-year-old African American college football player Todric McGee. Upon arrival, officers discovered McGee suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
