In the small community of Iowa, Louisiana, a confrontation stemming from a previous dispute tragically cut short the life of 22-year-old Tyrinn A. Leday. On the morning of Thursday, March 27, 2025, Leday, a male, and another individual went to the area of South Bowers Avenue and West 1st Street to address an earlier altercation. Their arrival was met with violence that would ultimately prove fatal.
Shortly after Leday and his companion arrived, Jordan M.
James, a 20-year-old resident of South Bowers Avenue, emerged from his home and opened fire on them. Leday was struck multiple times by the gunfire. While the person with Leday managed to escape unharmed, Leday succumbed to his injuries and was found deceased in a nearby ditch. The Iowa Police Department was called to the scene at approximately 10 a.m. and subsequently requested assistance from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.
Law enforcement officials immediately began their investigation, and their presence was a constant in the neighborhood for the remainder of the day. Their efforts led them to a residence on South Lambert Avenue in Iowa, where they located James around 10:30 p.m. that same evening. He was taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Jordan M. James was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He faces serious charges, including second-degree murder, obstruction of justice, illegal use of a weapon during a crime of violence, and aggravated assault with a firearm. A bond had not yet been set at the time of the initial reports.
