In the small town of Vivian, Louisiana, a tragic event unfolded that cut short the life of 16-year-old Miranda Clements. On a Sunday evening, police were called to a residence on South Pardue Street where they discovered the young female with a gunshot wound to her head. Paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced her deceased. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office later officially identified the victim, and her death was ruled a homicide.
The subsequent investigation into the shooting,
led by the Vivian Police Department and Caddo Parish Sheriff's Detectives, quickly focused on two other teenagers who were present at the time of the incident. A 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male, identified as Wyatt L. Sanders, were taken in for questioning as witnesses. During these interviews, for which the 16-year-old had a legal guardian present, both teenagers reportedly admitted to their involvement in the shooting.
Following their confessions, both teenagers were arrested. The 16-year-old girl was booked into the juvenile detention center on one count of negligent homicide. Wyatt L. Sanders was taken to the Caddo Correctional Center and booked on charges of principal to negligent homicide and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is ongoing.
