In the small community of Franklin, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire on a Tuesday evening in May shattered the quiet, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. On May 6, 2025, 20-year-old Dalyn Josef Nathan Bell was shot on Bray Lane. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office deputies quickly secured the scene and launched a homicide investigation into the violent death of the young Franklin
resident.
The investigation into the shooting led detectives to identify two individuals as persons of interest. Through gathering evidence and conducting interviews, investigators were able to build a case against 33-year-old Alfred Collins Jr. and 28-year-old Precious Joseph, both also from Franklin. Warrants were obtained for their arrests, and on May 8, 2025, both were taken into custody and booked at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released by investigators.
Alfred Collins Jr. faces a litany of serious charges, including second-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder, and two counts of illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies. His bond was set at a substantial $2.6 million. Precious Joseph was charged with being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, as well as possession of MDMA and possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance. Her bond was established at $505,000.
