On the evening of January 15, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred at a Circle K gas station located at 11755 County Road in Thonotosassa, Florida. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire just after 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Paul Strickland, a 37-year-old man, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, Strickland was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, law enforcement identified Dean Henderson, a 38-year-old two-time convicted felon, as the
suspected shooter. Henderson was taken into custody on January 16, 2025, after an arrest warrant was issued. He now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon and tampering with physical evidence. Officials have not disclosed whether Henderson had any prior connection to Strickland or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has stated that the investigation remains active, with further details expected to emerge as authorities continue their inquiries.
