On January 26, 2025, at approximately 1:25 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6300 block of Cayucos Drive in Phelan, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Adan Rodriguez, a Hispanic male from Ontario, California, suffering from a gunshot wound. Further investigation revealed that the shooting had occurred at a different location, a residence in the 6300 block of La Mesa Road, less than a mile away. Rodriguez was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Adan Rodriguez's condition deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead on February 4, 2025. Following his death, the case was classified as a homicide, and detectives from the Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Through their investigation, detectives identified 59-year-old Ramiro Liraaro, a resident of Fontana, California, as the suspect in the fatal shooting. On February 7, 2025, with assistance from the Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division, Liraaro was located in Fontana and taken into custody. He was arrested and booked for murder under Penal Code 187 and is being held at the Central Detention Center without bail. Liraaro pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and denied special allegations related to the use of a firearm, discharging a firearm, and causing great bodily injury.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the case and is seeking additional information.
