In a quiet subdivision in Dallas, Georgia, a burst of violence shattered the late-night peace on March 1, 2025, leaving one man dead and another critically wounded. Larry Thomas Wales, a 73-year-old white male, was fatally shot in what authorities have described as a shooting spree. The alleged gunman was his own son, 52-year-old Jody Thomas Wales.
Just before midnight, multiple frantic calls from the Fox Ridge subdivision flooded the Paulding County E-911 dispatch, with neighbors reporting gunfire. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered two men at separate homes had been shot. Both Larry Thomas Wales and another resident, 47-year-old Jason Scott Muncher, were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Larry Wales ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
In a remarkable display of bravery, other residents in the home managed to subdue Jody Thomas Wales, holding him down until law enforcement arrived. He was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Paulding County Jail. He faces a litany of charges, including felony murder, malice murder, five counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, two counts of burglary, two counts of first-degree criminal damage to property, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond.
The motive behind the deadly rampage remains unclear, and authorities have not released details about what may have precipitated the violence. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office has urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation continues into the tragic death of a father at the hands of his son.
