Eddie Phillip Jr., a 29-year-old from Omaha, was shot on Thanksgiving Day in 2008 during an apparent robbery near 28th and Spencer Streets. Despite surviving the initial attack, Eddie was left severely injured and spent over two years in a nursing home, where he passed away on February 27, 2011, turning the assault case into a homicide.
