In the cold of late February 2011, the life of 29-year-old Eddie Phillip Jr., an African-American man from Omaha, Nebraska, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Sunday, February 27, 2011, Phillip was found inside a residence, the victim of a fatal shooting. The incident occurred in a house near 33rd and Seward Streets, a detail that painted a grim picture of a life ended abruptly within the supposed safety of a home.
