In the quiet city of Omaha, Nebraska, the life of a promising young Asian/Pacific Islander man, Vedant Patel, was tragically cut short at the age of 22. On March 5, 2012, Patel, an engineering student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, was found stabbed to death in the condo he shared with roommates. His death sent shockwaves through the community and left his family, who had moved from India to the United States to provide him with a better education, utterly devastated.
