Stephanie Mason-Brown, 38, a Black woman, was shot on a summer Saturday night in North Omaha, where quiet blocks give way to the long sweep of Florence Boulevard. Just after 10 p.m. on July 21, 2012, gunfire broke the routine near Florence Boulevard and Sprague Street. Officers and paramedics rushed her to Creighton University Medical Center; by the time the ambulance lights faded from the emergency bay, she had been pronounced dead.
