Barry Averett III, a 28-year-old Omaha resident, was shot and killed on August 15, 2012. The incident occurred near 39th and Burdette Streets, where officers found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. His case remains unsolved, and his family continues to seek answers.
