On the night of April 30, 2025, at approximately 11:36 p.m., deputies from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 300 block of Cowry Road in Venice, Florida, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Leanna M. Leach, a 20-year-old Black female, who had been fatally shot.
