On April 19, 2025, at approximately 2:49 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 13600 block of Daimler Street, Moreno Valley. Upon arrival, they discovered Xavier Cox, a 22-year-old male resident of Moreno Valley, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived.
Cox was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Following the incident, homicide detectives launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Cox's death. Authorities identified an individual believed to be responsible for the shooting and transported them to the sheriff's station for questioning. The suspect cooperated with investigators and was subsequently released. Law enforcement officials have stated that the case remains under investigation and will be submitted to the District Attorney's Office for further review at a later time.
