In the spring of 2025, a large gathering at 5th Avenue Park in Conway, Arkansas, turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy. On the evening of Sunday, April 13th, gunfire erupted, sending attendees scrambling for cover. When the shooting ceased, two lives were tragically cut short, and nine other individuals were left with injuries. One of the deceased was 24-year-old Tatayana Penister, a female from England, Arkansas.
Another victim, 23-year-old Demetrius Feemster of Little Rock, also succumbed to his injuries.
The event, which had been organized by an out-of-town promoter, did not have a permit from the city. In the aftermath, Conway Police Chief Chris Harris revealed the scale of the violence, stating that at least six different weapons were fired, with investigators estimating that a minimum of 100 rounds were discharged during the incident. The sheer volume of gunfire underscored the terrifying nature of the event for all those present.
In the days following the shooting, law enforcement officials announced that they were actively pursuing several leads, with the assistance of U.S. Marshals. Despite the intensity of the investigation and the number of weapons involved, authorities had not yet identified or apprehended any suspects in the immediate wake of the tragedy. The community was left grappling with the loss of two young lives and the search for those responsible for the violence that unfolded on that Sunday night.
