On a summer morning in Omaha, Nebraska, the life of Edward Reed III, a 38-year-old African-American man, came to a tragic and violent end. On August 19, 2016, police and fire officials were dispatched to the corner of 30th and Y streets around 10:45 a.m. following a report of an unresponsive person in a vehicle. There, they discovered Reed inside his Ford Explorer, having been fatally shot.
