In the early hours of a Saturday in May 2025, the life of 37-year-old Lamarcus Bell was tragically cut short. The male victim was at the Oak Tree club in the small community of Coatopa in Sumter County, Alabama, not far from his home in Livingston. A dispute escalated into violence, shattering the night's calm at approximately 3:30 a.m. Gunfire erupted, leaving two men fatally wounded.
Alongside Lamarcus Bell, another man, 35-year-old Tristan Clark, was also killed in the shooting.
The incident was quickly reported, and law enforcement arrived at the scene to a grim discovery. Both Bell and Clark were pronounced dead from their injuries, turning a local gathering spot into the center of a double homicide investigation. The nature of the crime prompted authorities to pursue the highest charges.
In the immediate aftermath of the deadly altercation, a suspect was identified and apprehended at the scene. Christopher Hinton, a 29-year-old from nearby Faunsdale, was taken into custody in connection with the killings. By the following Monday, Hinton had been formally charged with capital murder for the deaths of Lamarcus Bell and Tristan Clark. He was subsequently booked into the Sumter County Jail to await legal proceedings.
