On the evening of September 15, 2020, a tragedy unfolded in Omaha, Nebraska, that cut short the life of 31-year-old Tremayne Jennings. An African-American male, Jennings was in his vehicle near the intersection of 18th and Spencer Streets when the sound of gunfire pierced the night air just after 8:00 p.m. The Omaha Police Department was alerted to the shooting by the city's Shotspotter system, a network of acoustic sensors designed to detect and locate gunfire.
