Wydeane Ellerbee, a 26-year-old African American woman from Tuskegee, Alabama, was reported missing on September 16, 1986. Her disappearance remained unsolved for several months until April 17, 1987, when a decomposed body was discovered behind the home of Jerry Marcus's mother in Tuskegee. The remains were identified as Ellerbee's, and the cause of death was determined to be asphyxial strangulation.
